HOW YOU CAN FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR BODY NO MATTER HOW IT LOOKS

Feeling good about your body is a decision only YOU can make. You are the one who is in control of how you decide to think and feel about your body. Don’t let anyone take that control away from you by giving their comments your attention.

But once you’ve made that decision, how do you actually feel good when all you can see in the mirror is how you DON’T want to look?

Feeling good about your body is an accumulative process. You’re not gonna go from hating how you look to feeling great in just one step.

You have to make time for working on your goal just as you would with any other goal; whether it be to earn more money or to write a book.

But it starts with your commitment to change. As they say, “if you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got!”

You have to do something different. Has feeling down on yourself done anything except make you feel more down on yourself?

NO? Of course not! So what are you gonna do today which makes you feel slightly better about your body?

Simple steps to loving your body!

To start off, write down all the ways you will show yourself how much you love and appreciate your body. For example;

~ eating good nutritious food
~ taking time to moisturise daily
~ going for a walk in nature
~ taking a hot bath every day
~ looking in the mirror and saying ‘I love you’,
~ throwing away clothes that don’t make you feel good
~ buying clothes that make you feel fantastic!

Whatever it may be, make a plan and set reminders on your phone to do some of those things of the list every day.

But what if I can’t love my body as I see it now?!

If you are adamant that you can’t love your body as it is and you need to do something to change it before you will be able to authentically love it for how it is, then what I’m about to share with you is going to change that.

Look in the mirror every day and focus in on the parts you love. Even if there is only one part you accept. Spend 5 minutes and set a timer, looking at that part and appreciating it.

Then the next day, look for something else and say out loud, “Everyday I am feeling better and better about you”.

Trust me, this works! By doing this, you will build up momentum about feeling good about yourself and if you are consistent, you will struggle to find things you DON’T like.

I know this may sound a little unreal to start with but what will happen is that by getting yourself into the frame of mind that you are happy with your body, you will naturally do things that are positive for it and you will nourish and nurture it because you have so much love and respect for it.

Why it’s harder to feel happier about your body when you focus on changing how it looks

If you start from a place of not loving yourself and start physically changing how it looks by extreme dieting or crazy fitness routines, that journey is going to be so much harder because you are starting out from a place of negative energy and so the resistance to the changes you are aiming for is going to be stronger.

Relying on will power alone is not enough. Take, for example, the way you feel about your children. I assume you love them more than you love yourself and that’s OK.

So how do you treat them? What language do you use? Do you tell them you love them every day? Do you praise them? Do you pick them up when they’re upset? Do you feed them nourishing food? Do you encourage them to be active?

So WHY do you do these things? Because you LOVE them right?

Now imagine someone who you don’t love; someone who you really don’t like at all. What if you were asked to look after this person? How hard would it be? You don’t like them so why do you care whether they are eating well or are healthy? It’s hard, isn’t it?

You are going against the grain of how you really feel. That’s why it’s so important to learn to love your body before you can easily take the action to do the right things to make it healthy.

Keep telling yourself that your body is strong and knows exactly what it needs to nourish itself and to feel good.

You’ll find the process of choosing the right food so much easier when you go with your instinct and listen to your intuition.

If something you are choosing to eat doesn’t feel right, it probably means it’s not what your body needs. Ask yourself, will it make you feel good once you’ve eaten it? If the answer is no, then reach for the thing that will make you feel good and doesn’t encourage feelings of guilt.

If you take one thing from all of this, it’s that you can choose to love yourself or you can choose to go on resenting yourself and your body. Which one feels better?
